Ushuaia un dia mas...

Bon, finalement j'ai louppé mon bateau pour Isla Navarrino le 30 décembre parce que mon avion étant arrivé trop tard le jour d'avant, j'ai pas pu etre déclaré auprès des autorités chiliennes (eh oui, en tranversant le Canal de Beagle on passe de l'Argentine au Chili). J'ai rattrappé cette journée en allant randoner seul dans les environs. Je suis pas resté seul bien longtemps puisqu'en chemin je rencontre une Argentine super sympa. Elle va au meme endroit que moi. Elle a la patience de m'écouter baragouiner en espagnol, du coup c'est l'immersion totale! J'ai droit à mon premier mate (prononcer 'maté') qu'on pourrait décrire comme un thé qu'on partage dans un meme recipient blindé d'herbes de mate sur lesquelles on a versé de l'eau chaude. La boisson se boit avec un genre de paille metallique qui filtre les herbes. C'est tout un rituel social: le récipient tourne entre tous les participants et on utilise tous la meme paille, surtout sans la nettoyer, tout un rituel social! J'ai bien aimé je cois dire!

La journée se termine avec des fruits de mer et un Chardonnay de Patagonie au restaurant. Mes deux voisins sont un brésilien et une brésilienne super sympas et qui parlent super bien francais! Ca fini au bar forcément... Y a des choses qui ne changent pas peu importe où on se trouve dans le monde: il y a toujours un pub irlandais pour passer une bonne soirée!

Première journée très sociale pour quelqun qui voyage seul! Ca excède déjà mes attentes!

I ended up missing my boat to Isla Navarino on the 30th of december. Because my plane landed late in Ushuaia, I could not be declared on time to the chilean authorities for the transfer the next day (by crossing the Beagle Channel i will actually change country and be in Chile!). The day turned out to be extremely good actually: I start hiking alone in the vicinity of Ushuaia, but soon i am joined by a very nice Argentinian girl. She goes to the same place as me. She´s patient enough to put up with my broken spanish, pretty cool! I think i made good progress that day! After walking for a while, she serves me my first 'mate' (to be pronounced 'maté') which could be described as a sort of tea with plenty of herbs that you put in a special mug. You pour warm water on the herbs and extract it then with a metallic straw that filters the herbs. It´s very much a social thing in South America: there is only one mug and straw that goes around in the group. That´s just a very rough description of the thing. I loved the taste of the drink i must admit!


I finish the day at the restaurant. Turns out my neighboors at the table are very nice Brazilians who actually speak really good French! Of course we end up at the bar... Some things never change wherever you go on this planet: there's always an Irish pub in the vicinity to have a good time at night!


That was a pretty social day for someone who travels alone... it's already beyond my expectations ;-)
