So we're on the white continent now, and boy, it is white! We find a berth place for our boat between small islands of the Melchior Archipelago, islands which are completely covered in ice and snow!
Aperitive to celebrate the arrival, and straight to bed because the Drake was still a very tiring experience! ;-) The next day we go out on the small boat for a little tour in the archipelago in order to approach very closely for the first time penguins and fur seals. Then we get the water chore: we need to refill our tanks, and since there are no streams as everything is covered in ice, we gotta find a cliff with enough melt water. You can admire the technique on the pictures, it was pretty fun in the end.
Next day, we head to Enterprise via the Gerlache Strait. And there the show starts! Some humpback whales come to welcome us sometimes just a few meters a way from the boat. And just when we were getting used to this, one of them decides to jump out of the water 30m away from me! That was absolutely amazing! It is followed almost right away by a second one. These were the only two jumps we saw, but what a show! I got 2 blurry shots of the second jump as i pushed the trigger of my camera by reflex, not looking through the lense because i wanted to see this show with my bare eyes (yep, it can happen! ;-)
